Firefly is meant to be simple enough that it mostly just works. But if something's not right, or you're wondering how a part of it works, there's a real person at the other end of the email — and answers to the common questions below.
The fastest way to reach us. We're a small studio and we read everything — expect a reply within a couple of days.
The things families and therapists ask us most often.
Open Firefly and start your free trial — no charge up front. Every game and the scoring system are fully unlocked right away. We'd suggest a calm, low-light spot and short sessions to start, following your little one's lead.
As your child plays, Firefly quietly notes how they engage with each side of the screen — the left and right visual fields — and how quickly they respond. Over time this gives you a simple picture of which side your child reaches toward most readily, and where a little more play might help.
It's a record of play, not a clinical measurement. Think of it as a way to follow along, not a diagnosis. You can choose to focus on a particular side, or let Firefly gently steer play toward the side that's had less practice.
Yes. Firefly keeps a history of engagement scores and reaction times on your device, so you can look back and see how things are trending across days and weeks. It's there whenever you want it and stays entirely private to your device.
Entirely on your device. Firefly has no accounts and no servers — nothing your child does is ever sent to us or to anyone else. If you delete the app, that history is gone with it.
The full details are in our privacy policy.
No — Firefly has no ads anywhere in the app. Nothing interrupts your child's play, and there are no external links for little hands to wander into.
Firefly is free to download and try. New members get a free trial — 7 days on the monthly plan, or 1 month on the yearly plan — with full access to every game and the scoring system, no charge during the trial.
After the trial, Firefly continues as a membership: $6.99/month or $49.99/year. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at the end of the trial unless you cancel first, and the subscription renews automatically until you turn it off.
You can view, change, or cancel your subscription any time in your device's Settings › [Your Name] › Subscriptions. Canceling stops future charges — you'll keep access through the end of the period you already paid for.
Subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple, not through us. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings › [Your Name] › Subscriptions › Firefly, and tap Cancel Subscription. This stops future renewals; you keep access through the end of the period already paid for.
Because Apple processes the payment, refund requests also go through Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com. We're happy to help if you have trouble finding the right screen — just email us.
Firefly runs on iPhone and iPad. A larger iPad screen is lovely for tummy time and shared play, but the app is designed to feel right on any modern iOS device.
Completely okay. For the youngest eyes, watching is the activity — following the light, holding a gaze, noticing something at the edge. The high-contrast visuals and gentle sounds are doing their work whether or not there's a tap. Every child moves at their own pace, and there's no wrong way to play.
Firefly's bold, high-contrast design was made with exactly these little ones in mind, and many families and therapists working with CVI (Cortical Visual Impairment) and low vision use it as part of play. That said, every child is different — if you have specific questions about fit, email us and we'll help however we can.
Firefly is play, not a medical device. It doesn't diagnose anything and isn't a substitute for your paediatrician or eye specialist. If your child has ever had a seizure, check with their doctor first.
Because everything lives on your device, deleting and reinstalling Firefly from the App Store clears all stored history and starts you fresh. If you'd like a simpler in-app reset, let us know — we're always shaping the app around what families actually need.
We'd love to hear it. To help us sort it out quickly, pop these three things into your email:
01
What happened — a quick description of the issue, or the idea you have in mind.
02
Your device — model and iOS version, from Settings › General › About.
03
How to see it — the steps that lead to the problem, if it's something we can reproduce.
